Bucas builds a safety feature into their blankets....the front straps and the cross surcingles are sewn down by a special computerized tacking machine that performs a preset sewing pattern. This construction makes the strength, of the sewn down strap, strong enough for all normal use, but weak enough so that, if a horse accidentally catches the blanket in someway, or gets his legs entangled in the straps, then the strap will 'pop' off to minimize injury or scarring to the horse. This also minimizes damage to the blanket itself.

Bucas advises that, when  choosing a blanket size, you should measure the  horse, from the centre of the chest, horizontally back to the outside point of the hip, not to the tail. This would be to the point where if one were to place a riding crop across the rump of the horse, and measure straight down the side and stop at the crop, and then take that measurement

Bucas will also custom-make blankets to suit your needs... ask Pam for details.
